ASA Categories, what are they

There is a scale of charges for ASA membership, this is paid each year and depicts what type of events a member can enter :

Category	Will apply to	ASA Form Colour	Cost for 2008
Category 1	Members who do not swim Speedo League Members who do not swim Open Galas Members who swim Deva league and Crusader league only	Pink	£4.75
Category 2	All members of the training squads, who want to swim Speedo League and open galas Members who swim Deva league and Crusader league as well	Blue	£18.00
Category 3	Members who do not swim e.g. Helpers or officials / committee members	Pink	£3.50

Basically as well as ASA membership this also covers an insurance for each member.

So any member of an ASA affiliated swimming club has to pay the approximate ASA amount each year otherwise they are not covered by ASA insurance
