Northern stars set a shining exampleCrewe Chronicle – 9 Jul 2003EIGHT Crewe Flyers made a splash when they were chosen to represent the North Midlands at the Inter-Association Championships at Wigan. Abbie Henderson, Elisabeth Kilcourse and Stephanie Parker were joined by Jason Owen, Daniel Parry, Owen Davies, James Cowburn and Terry Cowburn in the team after impressing selectors with their achievements at the North Midlands Championships earlier in the year. The eight swimmers were all presented with caps and t-shirts before the event. James Cowburn claimed a hat-trick of first positions in the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke, while Elisabeth Kilcourse won the 400m freestyle. Elisabeth was also second in the 200m freestyle and James third in the 100m freestyle. Abbie Henderson finished fourth in the 200m breaststroke and sixth in the 400m freestyle where she achieved a national qualifying time. Terry Cowburn was fifth in the 200m butterfly, while seventh spots went to Daniel Parry in the 100m breaststroke and James Cowburn in the 100m butterfly. To complete the Flyers' run of results, Owen Davies, Elisabeth Kilcourse, Jason Owen and Abbie Henderson all claimed eighth places. |
