Medals delight for high Flyers

THE season has started in style for Crewe Flyers.

Their 18-strong team returned from the Robin Hood Open Meet at Sheffield with 83 top-10 swims and a medal haul of 15 gold’s, 14 silvers and 11 bronzes.

Many personal bests were chalked up as the girls were placed second and the boys sixth, giving the club an overall third.

Lauren Sinclair was also named as the top girl at the meeting with team-mate Bryony Carragher making the top 10.

Head coach Steve Milhench said: 'We now have a talented squad and are building an excellent team. We look forward to much success this season.'

Bryony Carragher led the gold haul with five, touching home first in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m free-style and the 100m backstroke.

Elliott Bloor had a golden treble with wins in 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle and the 50m butterfly, and Lauren Sinclair matched the feat with 200m and 400m freestyle and the 50m butterfly wins.

Bethany Mayer won the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke and further gold’s went to Colette Foster in the 1,900m breaststroke and Joseph Wood in 50m butterfly.

Daniel Carragher was unlucky not to claim gold as he won four silvers in the 200m backstroke, Individual Medley and freestyle as well as the 400m freestyle.

Lauren Sinclair and Colette Foster notched two silvers and others went to Daniel Parry, Stephanie Parker, Joseph Wood, Bethany Mayer, Bryony Carragher and Elliot Bloor.

Lauren Sinclair won two bronzes with one apiece going to Elliot Bloor, Colette Foster, Joseph Wood, Stephanie Eastwood, Daniel Carragher, Jason Owen, Daniel Parry and Stephanie Parker.
