STUART'S SWIM FOR MAYOR'S APPEAL

Stuart Bloor is an exceptional athlete.  The disabled swimming champ has represented Great Britain in international competition and won plaudits in many quarters for his fund-raising achievements in support of local charities.  Stuart's most recent long-distance swim took place at Crewe swimming pool on Saturday 20th August when he completed a 5 mile swim in less than 2 hours.

This time, Stuart was raising funds for the Mayor's Charity which this year is in aid of the Homestart and the Leighton Hospital chairs appeals.  Both charities are dear to Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich, Councillor Maureen Grant who has chosen to recognise the work of local volunteers during her year in office.  The Mayor appealed to local businesses to consider sponsoring Stuart as he prepares for the Paralympics in Beijing in 2008.

Councillor Grant said:  "I cannot sing Stuart's praises enough.  He is a remarkable young man and I admire him because he is such a shining example to young people.  On behalf of the chosen charities, I would like to thank him for his contribution.  I would also like to encourage a local business or businesses to come forward to sponsor Stuart as he looks towards the Beijing Games in 2008."
