Coach has high hopes for Flyers trioJul 25 2007 - Crewe ChronicleA TRIO of swimmers from Crewe Flyers are hoping to make a real splash at the ASA National Age Group Championships in Sheffield this week. Veteran swimmer Bethany Mayer, 13, has qualified for the third year running, this year qualifying in the 200m backstroke. Charlotte Bradbury and Elliot Bloor, both 12, have qualified for the second successive year. Charlotte qualified in the 200m breaststroke and Elliot made it to the finals through the 400m, 200m and 100m free-style and also the 100m fly. Head coach Ian Spencer said: 'I am very pleased with the progress that all the Crewe Flyers are making. 'I'm looking forward to attending the national competitions and I am optimistic as to the three swimmers' performances.' Ian has implemented a new training programme as part of the Swim 21 initiative and swimmers are progressing in both their stamina and fitness.
The championships, held at Ponds Forge International pool, started on Monday and
ends tomorrow (Thursday). |
