Swimming: Flyers earn pride at nationals

A TRIO of Crewe Flyers did the club proud at the national finals.

Elliot Bloor finished fifth in 100m butterfly, 30th in the 400m freestyle, 17th in the 200m freestyle and 16th in the 100m freestyle, at the National Age Group Championships in Sheffield.

Charlotte Bradbury bagged 6th in the 200m breaststroke, while Bethany Mayer finished 20th in the 200m Backstroke despite feeling unwell just before the race. A club spokesperson said: 'We are very proud of them.'

Meanwhile, the Flyers finished second out of eight clubs at the Biddulph Open. More than 110 events were contested by 27 swimmers, with 40 podium finishes and 82 final places a chieved.

Gold's went to Elliot Bloor (2), Charlotte Bradbury, Bryony Carragher (2), Mike Eastwood (2), Colette Foster and Charlotte Rowlands (3).
