Wave Length - November 2007 Issue 108

The ASA has announced the regional winners of this year’s Aquaforce Volunteer Awards. Now in its second year, the
Aquaforce Volunteer Awards recognise people that give up their time to work at ASA clubs, counties and national
events.

This year, more than 100 volunteers across the country were nominated for the Awards, reflecting the importance of volunteers at
a regional level. As well as the Outstanding Contribution awards at club and county or regional level, two new awards have been
added for 2007 to recognise young volunteers (aged 25 and under) and those that have given extended service to the sport.
Volunteers are vital to the success of swimming and its associated disciplines and without the 45,000 plus volunteers regularly involved in
the sport, it would not enjoy the success it currently does.

  • Regional winners are as follows:

    • North West Club: Maureen Edmeades (Crewe Flyers ASC)
    • County / Region: Brian Boyle (Prescot SC)
    • Long Service: Mavis Bent(Tyldesley S&WPC)
    • Young Volunteer: Kimberley Melling (Newton Hall, Blackpool ASC)
    • North East Club: Joan Weatherington (City of Sheffield SC)
