Bloor sets sights on GB return

Disabled swimmer Stuart Bloor pledged to win back his international place after failing to qualify for this year's Paralympic Games.

Bloor, from Crewe, saw his final chance to make the team to Beijing disappear when he failed to meet the qualifying times he needed.

He came fourth in one of his events at the British International Swimming Championships in Sheffield, but had to admit defeat in his Paralympic quest.

He said: "It was a really long shot anyway, so I'm not too downhearted."

Bloor, who volunteered to have his leg amputated late last year in an effort to rid himself of years of pain and infections, returned to the pool within a month of the surgery.

But it was always a tall order ..
