Crewe Flyers in the media

Crewe Flyers made a good start to this seasons Arena league campaign with the squad of 33 swimmers competing recently at Oldham against 5 other clubs from the Northwest.   8 of the squad were swimming for the first time in the Arena league and swam brilliantly. The next Arena league gala is in November and the squad are looking forward to repeating this performance in this next round.  The full article appears in the Crewe Chronicle here

Supporting your swimmer

On Monday this week (10th October) it was World Mental Health day.  At the club we are keen to promote a healthy approach to training and competition and we believe that having great, supportive parents can have a strong positive impact on our swimmers feelings of mental wellbeing.  We have more information in our "Supporting your Swimmer" article which can be read here

Club Championships 2017

We have sent an email to all swimmers/parents with initial information about the Club Championships 2017 and asking for volunteers to help with the event.  We also ask that any swimmer currently in possession of old cups/trophies from the last Club Champs return it to the club so that we can take an inventory.

Further information about the Championships in the article that was sent out here

Inter county selection success

A big well done to Zak Fielding and Jacob Copeland who have been selected to swim for the Cheshire team ahead of the forthcoming ASA National Team County Championships.  Cheshire has a very strong pool of swimmers to draw from so being selected is a great achievement for both Zak and Jacob where only the best in the county are selected.  Team GB Olympic medallists Adam Peaty, Jazz Carlin, James Guy and Siobhan-Marie O'Connor have all previously competed at the County team champs; so who knows, perhaps Zak and Jacob will be heading towards Team GB in the future too!

If you would like to read more about the Inter Counties, the ASA website has further details here

Awards night success

On Friday night representatives from the club attended the Everybody Awards Ceremony, where Chris Pugh and Ryan Rimmer were both nominees for awards.  Chris came runner up in Coach of the Year category and Ryan WON the Young Volunteer of the year award for the work that he has done at Crewe Flyers!  This is a brilliant achievement, really well done!

It was really good to hear about achievements from across Cheshire East with many talented athletes and organisations being nominated for awards.  Hearing about Nicolas Hamilton's journey through the ranks to become a British Touring Car racing driver whilst dealing with and overcoming the challenges that cerebral palsy presents was inspiring.   The full set of photos from the awards night are on the Everybody facebook pages here and here
